Welcome to the home of the IOUG VMWare Special Interest Group, fondly known as VMSig.    We are a group of  technology professionals who are passionate about leading, educating and emboldening each other as we virtualize Oracle products running atop VMware.

Michael Corey

Michael is a recognized Oracle ACE, a recognized VMware vExpert, a recognized Microsoft SQL Server Most Valuable Professional (MVP) and is on the Talkin’ Cloud 200 Computing Executives and Experts List. In 2015  and 2017 was recognized by Onalytica as one of the top 100 individuals who influence the cloud. Michael is the original Oracle press author, frequent blogger, and writer for Database Trends and Applications and a regular columnist for Big Data Quarterly. Marlin McNeil, Managing Partner ,Yucca Group

Marlin McNeil has worked with Oracle since 1996 in architecture, performance tuning and administration.  Recently he has worked with extended distance RAC and was a technical editor of the book “Virtualizing Oracle Databases on vSphere” by VMware Press as well as presenting Oracle-centric content at VMware Partner Exchange, VMworld and IOUG Collaborate.

Chris is a highly innovative IT visionary with a track record of leading teams accomplishing industry firsts in the Enterprise Hybrid Cloud infrastructure and Business Critical Applications. Chris is a sought out and award winning speaker, contributor to several blogs, publications and white papers, and wrote the foreword to “Virtualizing Oracle Databases on vSphere” by Don Sullivan and Kannan Mani from VMware Press . Definitely not “Business as Usual”, his unique combination of technical and business leadership skills make him an ideal Enterprise Hybrid Cloud transformation leader.

Sudhir Balasubramanian has over twenty years of hands-on experience as an Oracle DBA/Architect, Oracle RAC/Data Guard Expert with substantial experience in EMC SAN Technologies. Since 2012 Sudhir has been a Staff Solution Architect – Oracle for VMware. Sudhir is an Oracle ACE, a vBCA Specialist, a vExpert, VMware VCA – Cloud certified and a Member of the VMware CTO Ambassador program. Sudhir has a book on Oracle on VMware SDDC to his credit as well.  Sudhir is a frequent speaker at Oracle , IOUG, EMC  and VMware events all over the globe. His twitter handle is @vracdba.

Dan Young, Chief Data Architect,  Indiana University.

Dan has  worked with a wide variety of data and database technologies since 1996, specializing in the development of sustainable, technical infrastructures.  Described as a ‘great champion of virtualization’,  Dan led the database architecture  and design behind the University’s successful virtualization of all enterprise Oracle database systems in 2008.  Dan is a frequent  conference participant and speaker,  evangelizing the merits of virtualization to the Oracle Database community and is especially focused on the benefits virtualization provides to the traditional  DBA role.  In 2014, Dan accepted the VMware Innovation Award on behalf of the Indiana University technology team responsible for supporting more than 4,000 virtual machines and over 1,000 databases.
